Tourists from other countries are not yet a common sight, and younger Iranians were almost always very interested in where we came from, why we were visiting, and whether we were enjoying their country. English is rarely used or understood, but some teenagers, in particular, have an excellent grasp of the language, and were keen to try out their skills.
