iran

Much of Iran is dry and relentlessly brown, so it is not surprising that designers and craftspeople create works of great colour and beauty to enrich their homes and lives. Here are some of the images that particularly appealed to me, and more can be found in the Islamic Decoration album.

Of course Iran is famous for what are still often called "Persian Carpets", and the term immediately brings to mind exotic tales and images.  Wonderful works of art are still produced by hand, and we were fortunate to see many old and new carpets on our travels throughout the country.

This collection of photos begins with treasures from the sumptuous Carpet Museum in Tehran.
